People have been playing dice games for thousands of years. Craps is a bit newer than that; the most popular dice game in the world can be traced back to a similar game called hazard that was played in ancient times. It was brought to America in the early 1800s much the same as poker was, by French settlers on the Mississippi riverboats. Now you can play online craps for real money anytime you want at Cafe Casino. This guide will show you the basic elements required to play craps online here at Cafe, starting with the rules for the most common bet in Craps.
Looking for a quick bankroll boost without having to deposit funds? Consider referring some friends to Cafe Casino. For every friend you send our way, we’ll give you a bonus to use in our casino; how much you get depends on the type of currency your friend deposits with. A standard $100 bonus is awarded for a regular deposit of $20 US or more, whereas $125 is awarded when a crypto-savvy friend deposits a minimum of $20 with Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash.
To follow the steps outlined in our RAF promotion, you’ll need to send your friend a referral link that’s connected to your Cafe Casino account. This streamlines the process and ensures that you get your $100 bonus 24 hours after the deposit without having to complete additional steps, or call in.
As is the case with all bonuses, the Refer-a-Friend one comes with a playthrough requirement before it can be turned into cold hard cash. Keep an eye on your progress in the Bonuses section of your Cafe account as you work your way through the 35X rollover. While almost all casino games contribute to rollover, slots and specialty games are the fastest options.
Slots are also a great option for trying to land on our weekly Online Casino Big Winners’ Page. Famous for their ability to trigger massive payouts with very little effort, slots can be assessed and compared for jackpot potential, bonus game payouts, and the number of free spins included, with special consideration for multipliers. There are so many different approaches to slot games, it’s hard to pinpoint the best strategy. At the very least, our Big Winners’ page tells you who is winning how much on what game, providing players with valuable insight into another casino player’s success story. Who knows, with a little luck and perseverance, it could become your story should you have the good fortune to play your way to Big Winner status.
There are a number of different bets you can make when you play real money Craps; you can see them on the table layout when you load up a new online Craps game at Cafe Casino. It can be a little overwhelming at first, so let’s focus on the most common way to bet on Craps: the Pass Line. You’ll find that part of the layout at the bottom of your display. The first thing to do is place your bet, using the virtual chips provided – just drag them onto the layout in the designated space. Then it’s time to roll the bones.
When you play online Craps at Cafe Casino, you’ll always be the shooter, the one rolling the two dice. After you place your Pass Line bet, your first throw will be the come-out roll. There are three possible outcomes for this roll:
7 or 11: Bet wins
2, 3 or 12: Bet loses
4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10: Point is established
Ideally, you’ll get a 7 or 11 with your come-out roll, and you’ll be an instant winner, paid out at even money. If you roll a 2, 3, or 12, the bet loses. Either of these results will end the betting round – then it’s time to make a new bet. Any other roll, and the round continues to the next phase.
If you get a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 with your come-out roll, the point is established. There’s an ON/OFF puck at the top of your display; this puck will move to the designated number on the layout and flip to the ON side. Then it’s time to start rolling again. The object is to make that point a second time before you roll a 7. If you do, you get paid out at even money; if you don’t, you lose the bet. Once you roll either the point or a 7, the round concludes and it’s time for a new bet. That’s all there is to the Pass Line wager – it’s easy, and it has a very low house edge of 1.41%.
What if we told you there’s a Craps bet with zero house edge? That’s where betting the odds comes in. Once you establish a point during a Pass Line bet, you have the option of making an additional side bet of up to 3X your original bet, no house edge attached. That side bet will win if you make your point before rolling a 7, and the payout will depend on what point you rolled:
4 or 10: 2/1
5 or 9: 3/2
6 or 8: 6/5
You also have the option of taking away or adding chips in between rolls when you bet the odds – as long as the betting round is still active (meaning you haven’t rolled the point or a 7 yet), and you stay within the maximum of 3X your original Pass Line bet.
Another very simple bet to make in Craps is the Come bet. After a point has been established, you can bet on what the next roll of the dice will be. The rules and payouts for the Come bet are the same as they are for a standard Pass Line bet – it’s almost like making a second Pass Line bet after the point has been established. Just place your bet in the area of the layout marked Come; if you don’t win or lose your bet on the next throw, the chips will move to whatever number you’ve rolled, much like the way the puck moves for the Pass Line bet.
Once you understand the Pass Line and Come bet, it’s time to join the dark side. You can make the exact opposite bet for each of these: the Don’t Pass bet, and the Don’t Come bet. With the Don’t Pass bet, you want to roll a 7 before you roll the point that’s been established. You also win instantly if your come-out roll is a 2 or 3, and lose if it’s a 7 or 11. One important difference: If you throw a 12 on your come-out roll, it’s a tie and you roll again.
You can also make that side bet with zero house edge attached when the point is established during a Don’t Pass bet, but this time, it’s known as laying the odds instead of betting the odds. The payouts are also reversed:
Finally, you can make a Don’t Come bet that works the opposite way as the Come bet. Both the Don’t Pass and Don’t Come have a slightly smaller house edge of 1.36%, but beware if you want to make these bets at a live casino: It’s called “betting the dark side” for a reason. Many live Craps players are superstitious and don’t like it when you effectively bet against the shooter. No need to worry about Craps etiquette when you’re at Cafe Casino – you can bet the dark side to your heart’s content.
Craps is a game of pure chance when you play online at Cafe. In theory, a practiced live player can use “dice control” techniques to make it more likely they’ll roll a particular number, but these techniques are difficult to master, and there isn’t a consensus that they work. All the throws you make at Cafe Casino are randomly generated.
Because of this, there’s no “betting system” you can use to gain an edge playing Craps online. This game is designed for entertainment purposes only; don’t get suckered in by using systems like the Martingale, where you double your bet every time you lose. Unless you get incredibly lucky, these systems can lead to you draining your bankroll
Instead, think about getting the most value out of your entertainment dollar when you play online Craps. Making the bets with the lowest house edge will help you stretch that dollar, so always bet the odds or lay the odds when you have the opportunity. It’s fun to place other bets in Craps like Any 7, where you get paid out at 4/1 if you roll a 7 on your next throw, but that bet has a house edge of 16.67%. Try sprinkling in those bets from time to time for fun, but make the Pass/Don’t Pass and Come/Don’t Come your standard plays.
Now that you know the basics behind Craps, get on board at Cafe Casino and try a few throws using the Practice Play mode – this is also a great way to learn about all the other bets available on the layout. Once you’re comfortable, switch to real money Craps and get those dice in the air.
