How to Play Standard Blackjack
Learning how to play online blackjack is easy, too. Each game has slight variations to the rules, which are displayed for you whenever you open a blackjack game at Cafe. However, no matter which version you play, the goal is to get closer to 21 points than the Dealer—without going over. All the blackjack games at Cafe are you versus the Dealer. You’ll each receive two cards, with one of the Dealer’s cards shown face-up for you to see. Then it’s your turn to play. The basic moves are the same no matter which blackjack game you choose:
Hit: Receive one more card and continue.
Stand: Stick with what you’ve got and end your turn.
Double: Double your initial bet, and receive exactly one more card to end your turn.
Split: If you’re dealt a pair, split them into two hands, each for your original bet size, then receive another card for each hand.
Surrender: At the start of your turn, forfeit the hand and lose only half your original bet.
Once your turn is done, and assuming you haven’t gone bust, it’s the Dealer’s turn. Their second card is revealed, then they keep drawing cards, trying to draw until they have at least 17 points. Some games require the Dealer to stand on “soft 17” (meaning an Ace and a Six), while others require the Dealer to hit on soft 17, so knowing that in advance might change the way you play your cards.
